bury two prototype shovels and test each handle's ability to hold up to ice and force

this could potentially result in a bent shovel that is not as effective if it loses its original shape

carbon fiber remains a strong and lightweight material that can retain its shape in icy conditions


a cork composite insert is lightweight, hydrophobic, and comfortable in hand


two blade positions allow for more aggressive shoveling styles


pack + harness


the pack mimics the shovel blade shape giving as much protective storage as possible while still allowing a smooth shovel deployment


the harness can be used alone or sit in conjunction underneath a backpack
